For anyone doubting the need to do something about climate change, Dr Doom (aka Professor John Sterman, Director, Systems Dynamics Group, MIT) says climate change is real and just adapting to it is futile. We need to both adapt and mitigate. The good news is solutions are being developed; they are getting cheaper every day; and people can make money selling the solutions. MIT has even proved this by constructing a building designed in 2000 to LEED Gold standard which uses 70% less energy than standard designs, but whose Net Present Value is +$10M. This a good example of a systems approach which involved all stakeholders.. Likewise, our challenge with climate is not just a technology problem. social, political, and environmental justice issue. It requires a systems approach involving all stakeholders to solve it.
